Overview

Diamond Logistics are a delivery logistics company whose ambition is to become the UK’s first national same day and express fulfilment network. Their offering is based on three core services: same day delivery, overnight, and fulfilment of orders. This third option includes online inventory, storage and warehousing.

The Challenge

During initial discussions, we learned that Diamond Logistics’ business model relied upon three different and archaic pieces of software without any service level agreements. Depending on whether they needed same day, overnight or fulfilment, customers wanting to place orders faced a long and difficult process, logging into differently branded software – each with its own interface. We recommended that one single piece of software was needed for both customers and franchisees.

Diamond Logistics attempted to use independent developers to complete the project but soon discovered that they lacked the necessary in-depth understanding of what the business needed. They turned to us to build the comprehensive software product we’d originally proposed.

The Process

Working intensively in a tight time frame, we completed a review of competitor products. We analysed what wasn’t working in the current system, then thoroughly scoped out the prototype of our single delivery software solution. This shifted Diamond Logistics away from excessive operational costs and made them fully self-reliant and scalable as a business.

The Solution

We delivered a comprehensive software called despatchlab. As a ‘multi carrier solution’ it integrated with all of Diamond Logistics’ clients’ ecommerce systems to automatically talk to all departments, and carriers such as UK Mail, DPD and Yodel. Rolled into this one platform are all customers need from an effective logistics company: delivery drivers, goods in, and a fulfilment centre.
