This month the team are on a quest to raise some much needed funds for The Olive Tree Cancer Support Centre based in West Sussex.
In 2020 we, as a team did 4,085,902 steps, and in 2021 a staggering 5,867,547 steps.
This year we’re stepping up the challenge (pardon the pun).
We’re challenging ourselves to walk a massive SIX MILLION steps in October – that’s the equivalent of 1104.8 lengths of Heathrow Airport’s North Runway, or 10,283.4 circuits of a football pitch!
We are raising money for The Olive Tree Cancer Support Centre, for everyone affected by cancer. Receiving a diagnosis of cancer is a difficult, stressful and emotional time for both the patient and those around them. The centre provides a range of services to support people from the point of diagnosis, through their treatment and beyond; in fact for as long as they’re needed.
With Centres in both Crawley and Horsham, The Olive Tree Cancer Support Centre offer the following services: Information, complementary therapies, counselling, coaching, wig Service, drop-ins, support groups including for those with secondary cancer, and those with prostate cancer.
Midway through the month, and the challenge, and the stats are stacking up (as are the steps) –
- So far we’ve clocked up a massive 3,957,737 steps which is 62% of our goal of 6,393,157
- Sam G has completed the most amount of steps in one day by smashing out 37,111 steps in one day
- Carrie is at 171% of the goal she set at the beginning of the month – which is the highest in the team
- And Graham has contributed the most steps with 322,956 logged so far
Co-founder of Red River, Kieren, has promised that for every member of staff who hits their daily goal, he’ll add another £1 to the pot. So far that’s meant a further £367!
We’ve been blown away by the generosity of people giving to this cause, and helping us on our mission to hit six million steps. We’re looking to raise £2,000 and are very close to hitting the target. If you’d like to support us, and this amazing charity, just go here.
