Students from The College of Richard Collyer
At Red River we believe it’s vital to always be on the lookout for upcoming talent, as well as supporting it when we find it.
That’s why this last couple of weeks we’ve been hosting students from The College of Richard Collyer in Horsham, as part of their T Levels – something we’ve been doing for some time.
To ensure they meet the requirements of their qualification they need to spend time with a company on attachment, which is where we come in. We’ll be hosting them for six weeks. After that, they’ll return to college to continue their learning, and we’ll do it again with another group!
We asked for some feedback from the students about how they’re finding their work experience and were blown away by their comments
‘As a recent addition to the team at Red River Software, I can confidently say that my work experience here has been exceptional. When I first joined the team, I had little experience in C# and no experience in React JS, but the support and guidance from my colleagues have made the learning curve a lot smoother. The team has been incredibly patient and accommodating, and I have been able to learn at my own pace without feeling overwhelmed or intimidated.’
‘What I appreciate most about working at Red River Software is the friendly and fun atmosphere that permeates throughout the company. Everyone is approachable and willing to help, and there’s never a dull moment. Whether it’s something basic like chatting at lunch or while working, the friendliness and positivity make for a great working environment.’
‘Overall, I am thoroughly enjoying my time at Red River. The team has made me feel welcome since day one, and the work environment is both enjoyable and productive. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow alongside my team and develop my skills further with Red River.’
Apprenticeship via the University of Chichester
Meanwhile, we’ve also welcomed to the team Adam, a student we’re sponsoring as part of a degree apprenticeship via the University of Chichester.
Adam is working with us four days a week during term time, and learning at university one day a week as he works towards a BSc in Software Engineering. Out of term time he works with us here Monday to Friday.
‘Adam’s working on real projects for customers and doing a great job. He’ll be with us for four years as he works towards his degree and is already a firm member of the team.’
CEO of Red River, Simon Pringle
Other ways we support students and young people in their learning includes – providing mentoring to local schools, sponsoring the Collyers Robotics Team and saying yes to as many work experience students as possible.
